In the past few years, Open_Music has increasingly embraced the use of electronic media to augment its traditional Instrumentarium and initiated more projects in which guest musicians (some of whom have been associated with Open_Music projects in the past) are invited to work several days with members of the ensemble. Three such projects from 2021-2022 are presented here in a new Bandcamp series called ELEKTROAKUSTIKA.

This first album features the electric guitarist Phillip Staffa, who has been associated with Open_Music since its earliest days in 2005, when he was still in high school in Ludwigsburg. He joined Roderik Vanderstraeten and Scott Roller in August 2021 in the Open_Music studio in the Stuttgart Wagenhallen for several days of rehearsals and recordings. He brought some of his own compositional strategies to the sessions, and they provided the context for some of the improvisations.
Several videos of the concert on the 14th of August 2021 are available on the Open_Music website.
