This set of four pieces (with three alternate mixes) is the first release in the Open_Music Sessions 2020 – Layers series, in which a collective of musicians from Open_Music Stuttgart are collaborating on a long term, on-going recording project from their individual homes. There is a server on which the musicians can initiate processes (by creating a folder containing one or more .WAV files) – in this case 4 solo bass-clarinet tracks were posted by Felix Behringer on April 16th. Other musicians can download this file, improvise to it, and upload those files back into the pool. When several files have come together, they are mixed in proper form and posted in this series.

In this case, Felix Borel responded first to the initial four tracks, later joined by Scott Roller, and yet later by Michael Kiedaisch and Rod Vanderstraeten.

released May 10, 2020

Felix Behringer, bass clarinet | Felix Borel, violin | Scott Roller, cello | Michael Kiedaisch, vibraphone/perc | Roderik Vanderstraeten, synthesizer & mixing.
