This fourth edition of the Open_Music series AUSSICHTEN (Prospects) was conceived and produced by Felix Borel. He wrote the following about his work:

"The basic idea for Prospects 4 is quickly told. Each musician got his personal track produced by me, the only playing instruction being to act solistically, in whatever form and with whatever material. Everyone has, so to speak, his own "orchestra" , to which he develops the solo part, as a feature for each musician of the Open_Music Ensemble, which is why the tracks are named after their respective soloists.

For the recording of the "orchestra tracks" I used a different set of instruments for each movement to create different sound spaces and moods. melodica, frame drum, piano interior processed with e-bow and brushes, kalimba, violin and viola are the sources of these sounds.”

For Prospects 4 - SOLISTEN, Felix Borel multitracked the musicians' various offerings in the studio and Roderik Vanderstraeten gave the mixes the final audio polish. The five solistic movements are framed by an intro and outro featuring all the musicians of the ensemble.
